Guy's Chocolate Chip Cookies
Classic homemade chocolate chip cookies — soft, rich, buttery, and packed with milk chocolate chips. Crisp golden edges, soft centers, and the kind of cookies that disappear quickly anytime they come out of the oven. Best enjoyed warm with a cold glass of milk.

Ingredients
- 2 sticks butter, softened (8 tablespoons each)
- 3/4 cup white sugar
- 3/4 cup brown sugar
- 1 egg
- 2 teaspoons vanilla (Mexican vanilla recommended)
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 2 1/4 cups flour
- 1 bag milk chocolate chips (11.5 ounces)
Instructions
1Preheat the oven to 380°F. Prepare a cookie sheet with parchment paper or leave ungreased if preferred.
2In a large mixing bowl or stand mixer, cream together the softened butter, white sugar, and brown sugar until smooth and fluffy.
3Add the egg and vanilla, mixing well until fully combined.
4Gradually add the baking soda and flour, mixing after each addition until a soft cookie dough forms.
5Fold in the milk chocolate chips and stir until evenly distributed throughout the dough.
6Using a cookie scoop or spoon, drop rounded scoops of dough onto the cookie sheet, leaving space between each cookie for spreading.
7Bake for at least 10 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden brown. For softer cookies, remove them earlier. For crunchier cookies, bake a little longer. Allow the cookies to cool on the pan for several minutes before serving.
Tips & Variations
- For softer cookies, slightly underbake and let them finish setting on the pan.
- For crispier cookies, flatten the dough slightly before baking and cook a few extra minutes.
- Semi-sweet chocolate chips can be substituted for a less sweet version.
- Store in an airtight container to keep them soft for several days.
- These freeze well both before and after baking.
